Country Man, Cowboy Boots, and Cowboy Hats…what else does a country girl want!!!!?
Well, I ain’t really got a quote that ain’t already been said. But I agree with True Cowboy..
I ain’t the most cliche cowboy, but I still say yes sir/yes maam to my momma, dad, an elders, along with ladies an gentlemen. I wear my boots, I dip an smoke, I ride an drive a truck, I take my hat off when I eat, I say grace, I tip my hat to women, and I don’t spit, cuss,er fight in front of a woman. But before I spend money on my truck er tobacco, er treat myself on sometin, ima work till I can’t work no more, treat my woman with the respect an love she deserves, tend to my animals, make sure the bills is paid, an give thanks to the Good Lord. THEN I might indulge in a little selfishness… All these comments bout “boots, spurs, cowboy hats make the cowboy” an such, well that ain’t nothin but talk. Till you learn to ride an die a good man, take care of yer kin, help yer neighbors and strangers, an still have enough in ya to be wild and free, then you ain’t got no room to talk.
With a few years behind me, I know! Cowboys aren’t born. Cowboys are self made men. We are a product of what we choose to be. It isn’t the hat that makes the cowboy. It’s the cowboys that make the hat. You people are describing an image not a way of life. Country boys live in and enjoy the country. Cowboys live on a ranch and make a living out of it. Farmers live on a farm and make a living out of it. That’s why they call it country dancing and not cowboy dancing……so everyone can enjoy.
Don’t judge people by their relatives.
Never approach a bull from the front, a horse from the rear or a fool from any direction.
– Cowboy Saying
Being a cowboy ain’t about wearing your fancy spotless 50xx beaver hat or riding you horse on a manicured trail on the weekends. It’s about getting up all hours of the night to check cattle in the winter time and freezing your hands while you do it, and cutting trail through brush so thick you can’t see ten feet in front of you, it’s not about driving around in a big jacked up pickup being ignorant. It’s about holding doors for your elders and the ladies just like truecowboy says. Being a cowboy isn’t a job or a hobby that you can just pick up.
It’s a life style that you live from the day you are born.
Don’t call em cowboy till you seen em ride.
You know you have a cowboy’s heart when he lets you wear his cowboy hat.
Ride like there is no tomorrow, because the only promise is today.
Shut Up and Ride.
If you get thrown from a horse, you have to get up and get back on, unless you landed on a cactus; then you have to roll around and scream in pain.
A cowboy is not boots, spurs, hat or a love for John Wayne. It is who you are inside. It is how you treat those around you. It is giving of yourself before you give to yourself. It is a smile that comes from your heart and a howdy that comes from your deeds. A rodeo ride isn’t a prerequisite nor is it a requirement to be a cowboy. It isn’t being able to quote Lonesome Dove or talking about the time you saw Garth Brooks in concert. A cowboy has an aura like no one else. A cowboy makes those around him stand in awe of his wisdom, wit and true grit. He holds his mates hand as well as their heart. He treasures what others take for granted. He steps up when others step down and picks up those who stumble around him. A TRUE cowboy is solid, grounded and a gift from God. That is something no item bought at Sheplers or driven of the lot of a dealership can make.
I’m thirty years older than you are. I had my back broke once, and my hip twice. And on my worst day I could beat the hell out of you.
