The struggle has always been between the art world and the trash man. These two foes wage an epic battle and no one can predict the outcome. One seeks to elevate; the other seeks to incinerate. One wields a mighty belief forged by an ideal in spite of practicality; the other wields a mighty shovel forged by a factory and put to the service of practicality. Any object, no matter how pure, no matter how perfect, no matter how inspiring, can only be a potential work of art. Its true fate will remain in question until one of the two combatants claims ownership, and do not be mislead. The trash man’s pronouncements are as cruel and as final as those of the art world!.
