Appearances give us information about people. This information can admittedly be valuable if we are trying to learn about someone. Ignoring the information because of a prejudice (“one should not judge because of appearances”) is shallow prejudiced behavior. The fact that if you only judge from appearance, you are also considered shallow, makes this somewhat resembling of a paradox.
It requires great depth of knowledge and experience to utilize what is right in front of one.
