I’m a shy person. When you first meet me, our conversation is going to be awkward because I would have absolutely nothing to say to you. It’s even worse when I find you attractive. But if you give me time, I’ll probably get comfortable around you. And then I’ll start talking so much that it’ll annoy you.
Shyness is not actually born in an individual but his surrounding (people around you could make you shy). Have you ever grown up where your thoughts are always rebuked, responses to your opinions are ever arrogant, unfriendly then what do you expect when you shift to a new place, society. In conclusion, being shy becomes a choice if you fail to have self-esteem, believe that you can, yes you can say no to shyness.
I know this sounds strange, but as a kid, I was really shy. Painfully shy. The turning point was freshman year, when I was the biggest geek alive. No one, I mean no one, even talked to me.
– Jim Carrey
I felt suddenly shy. I was not used to shy. I was used to shame. Shyness is when you turn your head away from something you want. Shame is when you turn your head away from something you do not want.
– Jonathan Safran Foer
